In the beginning of this section, Celie is talking about Sofia and the people she is working for. The way Celie describes Sofia makes her seem more outgoing and happy than she used to be. Sofia did a nice favor by teaching Miz Millie to drive. Something like that takes a lot of patience. I was so happy to see that Celie was going to get to go home. It would be so hard to be separated from your family for so long. That had to be an emotional experience for Celie. It was so sad to see that her time with her children was cut short. She deserves to see her children, but she knows that she has to obey her master.
I was really surprised that Shug would show up with a husband. She knew that her and Mr. ______ had a thing, so you would think that she would really anger him. It sounds like Shug has become very successful and has made a good life for herself. This has to be hard for Mr. ______ to know that he was so close to being with her.
Celie's story about the rape was really sad. She was only fourteen and had to experience something so horrible. Things like this have really scarred her for the rest of her life. When she says stuff like, "Nobody ever love me" , it shows how hurt and desperate she is.
Shug and Celie's relationship is very weird. I'm not sure how they feel about each other, but they are definitely something more than friends.
